Animal Licences and Tags

Pet owners must purchase a licence for dogs and cats which are 12 weeks of age or over within seven days of ownership. There is a fine for having an unlicensed dog or cat. 

For your convenience, the City of Greater Sudbury offers a choice of a one year licence, three year licence and lifetime licence.

How to Register Your Pet

  • Register your pet online,Visa and MasterCard are accepted for online applications. Your pet tag(s) will be mailed to you once your payment is received. Please note that Pet Licence fees are non-refundable once paid.
  • Register and pick up your pet tag in person at Greater Sudbury Public Libraries and Citizen Service Centres and at participating pet stores and veterinary clinics. A list of distributors is available below.
