GSDC Invests More Than $568,000 in Arts and Culture to Support Festivals, Events and Local Creativity

The Greater Sudbury Development Corporation (GSDC) Board of Directors, on behalf of the City of Greater Sudbury, is pleased to announce $568,571 in funding through the 2026 Arts and Culture Grant Program to support the local arts and culture sector.

The investment will support 43 organizations, helping to deliver a diverse range of festivals, performances, exhibitions and cultural experiences across Greater Sudbury. Funded organizations will collectively deliver 2,185 public activities, events, performances and exhibitions, with attendance expected to exceed 350,000.

Since its establishment in 2005, the program has provided nearly $12 million in funding to 814 arts and culture initiatives. For every $1 invested through the program, arts and culture organizations leverage an additional $7.30. Data from the Canadian Culture Satellite Account, shows that the arts and culture sector generates an estimated $205 million in gross domestic product and supports nearly 1,700 local jobs in Greater Sudbury.
