Greater Sudbury Public Library -- 2026–2028 Strategic Plan
May 15, 2026
The Greater Sudbury Public Library (GSPL) is proud to announce the launch of its 2026–2028 Strategic Plan, a plan that positions the Library as a vital partner in building a more connected, creative and informed Greater Sudbury.
Developed through extensive community engagement and long-range planning, the new Strategic Plan outlines a bold and practical vision for the next three years. Through this engagement, community members told us they value the Library as a welcoming public space, a trusted source of information and a catalyst for learning and creativity. This plan responds directly to that feedback and aspiration, charting a course that strengthens core services while embracing innovation and growth.
This plan establishes a renewed mission for the Greater Sudbury Public Library: we connect our community, igniting curiosity, creativity and learning by providing free and equitable access to information, engaging experiences and opportunities for collaboration. Grounded in this mission, the 2026–2028 Strategic Plan focuses on four key areas:
• Enhancing our spaces to ensure they are modern, accessible and reflective of community needs
• Expanding our role as a community hub, deepening partnerships and increasing our presence across the city
• Amplifying our impact through improved visibility, outreach and service delivery
• Building organizational capacity to support sustainable growth and long-term success
This plan also aligns GSPL with established priorities in the broader public library sector, including strengthened advocacy, community-centred service design, a commitment to truth and reconciliation and inclusion.
