City Opens Community Survey on Significant Weather Event

Jun 1, 2026

The City of Greater Sudbury is reviewing its response to the Significant Weather Event that began on March 15, 2026. The major winter storm brought severe and prolonged conditions that affected roads, transit, emergency response, waste collection and other municipal services.

While internal reviews are a routine part of the City’s emergency management process, City Council has directed staff to undertake a more detailed review of this event, including gathering community feedback and solutions and ideas for improving the City’s response to future significant weather events. Residents are invited to complete a survey before June 14, 2026, to share input related to:

•    Their views on service priorities during major weather events
•    Which disruptions affected them most
•    The City’s communication efforts during and after the storm
•    Suggestions for improving future storm response
•    What aspects of the City’s response worked well

This feedback will help the City better understand residents’ experiences during the storm and identify opportunities to strengthen operations, service updates and emergency communications for future severe weather events.

To complete the survey, visit overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca or call 311.

Note: The survey is not intended for individual service requests, complaints about specific addresses or compensation claims. Those matters should be directed to 311.
