2026 Municipal and School Board Election Results
Oct 27, 2026
The 2026 Municipal and School Board Election results are now available. The results were tabulated following the close of electronic (online) and paper ballot voting on Monday, October 26 and the elected candidates have been certified by the City Clerk.
The tabulation of paper ballots involved scanning each ballot to accurately capture and record the vote. While voting was completed as scheduled, the scanning and verification process required additional time as the equipment processed the paper ballots slower than expected. Additionally, a higher volume of paper ballots was received compared to the previous election.
“Maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the election remained the top priority throughout the process,” said City of Greater Sudbury City Solicitor and Clerk Eric Labelle. “I’d like to extend a thank you to City staff across all departments who were essential in delivering this election as well as to all candidates who participated in the electoral process.”
Voter Turnout
Of the approximately 136,000 eligible voters in Greater Sudbury, the total voter turnout during the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election was 40.5 per cent. Approximately 75 per cent of votes were cast online and 25 per cent of votes were cast via paper ballot.
The new City Council will be sworn in at an inauguration ceremony scheduled for November 24, 2026.
