Update: Crews Returning to New Sudbury Fire and Paramedic Station

Jan 31, 2023

Following testing at the New Sudbury Fire and Paramedic Station, results have come back negative and no asbestos was found. Upon further investigation, the Ministry of Labour is satisfied that the contractor followed all appropriate handling procedures. There is no further concern related to the health and safety of employees.

Fire and Paramedic crews are expected to return to the station by Wednesday, February 1, once cleanup of the site is complete.

At this time, all construction at the station has been placed on hold. Staff will be required to relocate for an estimated eight weeks for the remaining renovations, including unanticipated water/sewer main work. This work will not resume until a suitable, temporary, alternate location within the New Sudbury response area is ready for use. A further update will be provided at that time.
