Larch Street Kids Child Care Centre Looking to Expand and Offer More Spaces

Nov 20, 2023

The Larch Street Kids Child Care Centre, located in the provincial building at 199 Larch St., is looking to move. Infrastructure Ontario recently announced a change in leasing terms for child care sites in government buildings, and Larch Street Kids was given the opportunity to explore alternate locations.

The City of Greater Sudbury leases the Larch Street Kids space to Infrastructure Ontario, which has a sublease agreement with the child care centre. Over the next several months, the child care centre will be working with the City and the Ministry of Education to explore potential new sites that would allow it to expand its program and create more child care spaces. This includes the addition of an outdoor playscape to increase opportunities for outdoor learning and play.

The child care centre provides programming for children from infant to preschool age. At this time, the space cannot accommodate school-age programming. Currently, there are 77 children receiving supports and 412 families on the waitlist at Larch Street Kids.

We look forward to sharing the site’s relocation details in early 2024. The site relocation will include a full transition plan for children, families and the child care team.
