Nov 18, 2022

Following an extensive national recruitment, the City of Greater Sudbury is pleased to announce Hailey Pinksen as its new Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

“Hailey offers a great fit with our organization,” said City of Greater Sudbury Chief Administrative Officer Ed Archer. “I’m confident her leadership and experience will help our organization continue to emphasize its focus on continuous improvement and innovation, as she takes on the significant role of managing the City’s financial condition and supporting more than 50 lines of service.”

Hailey is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor, with a Certificate in Municipal Management and Leadership from the School of Business at the University of Alberta. Her experience includes a position on the senior team at the City of Lethbridge, where she was responsible for such things as tax and assessment, financial services, procurement, grant funding, investments and integrated risk management. Most recently, Hailey was the Director of Finance and Administration for the Chinook Primary Care Network in Lethbridge.

“In addition to her impressive background in accounting, finance and audit background, Hailey brings to this role a unique combination of education in areas such as conflict management, meditation, mindfulness and coaching,” said General Manager of Corporate Services Kevin Fowke. “Our Finance group and our broader group of service directors will certainly benefit from her leadership, experience and passion for public service.”

“As I take this next step in my career, I am excited to be joining the talented team at the City of Greater Sudbury,” said Hailey. “I have worked to support individual growth, resiliency and leadership development within the places I have worked, including co-creating and leading the women’s mentoring group at the City of Lethbridge. I look forward to bringing my experience to the table as we work together to guide Greater Sudbury’s long-term financial success.”

The Director of Finance and CFO is responsible for a large portfolio of important services, including the annual budget process, tax billing and collection, accounting, payroll and financial information system support, purchasing and procurement, budgeting, financial planning, risk management and insurance, and financial and support services.

Hailey replaces long-time Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer Ed Stankiewicz, who retired earlier this year. She begins the new role on November 21, 2022.
