Residents Invited to Provide Feedback on Junction East Concept Design

Jul 19, 2021

The City of Greater Sudbury’s Junction East project, the new Central Library/Art Gallery and potential partners Sudbury Theatre Centre and Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association, is at an exciting stage. As part of an extensive engagement campaign that took place earlier this year, the City and WZMH Architects gained feedback from the community and key stakeholders. That feedback has now been translated into a conceptual design for the facility. At this phase, the team looks at the required spaces in the building, how they function and their relationship to each other.

The public is invited to review the conceptual design and provide input at a virtual open house on Wednesday, July 21, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. More information is available at https://overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca/. The community can also view and provide feedback on the design at https://overtoyou.greatersudbury.ca/ from July 19 to July 30.

Expected to open in 2024, Junction East will include the Greater Sudbury Public Library Main Branch and the Art Gallery of Sudbury, located on the east side of Shaughnessy Street in the downtown. The City and WZMH are examining the potential to integrate the Sudbury Theatre Centre and Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association into the project as well.

A Junction East Newsletter is issued regularly. It provides project updates and information on upcoming milestones and engagement opportunities.
