Shovel Superheroes Required at Neighbourhood Outdoor Rinks

Jan 16, 2020

The City of Greater Sudbury is seeking more volunteers to maintain and operate 54 outdoor rinks in every part of the community. Neighbourhood rinks would not be possible without the hundreds of volunteers who donate their time and energy each winter season.

Neighbourhood volunteers are responsible for scraping, shovelling and flooding outdoor rinks, ensuring the fieldhouse is open and may also operate the canteen. At some locations, volunteers are involved in special events, such as carnivals and fundraising activities.

The City of Greater Sudbury supports local volunteers with funding and equipment to carry out these duties. Please consider supporting a healthier community by giving your time at your local neighbourhood outdoor rink!

For more information and to volunteer, contact the City of Greater Sudbury Leisure Services at 705-674-4455, ext. 2446 or email leisure.services@greatersudbury.ca.
