COVID-19 Update: Pools and Fitness Centres

Oct 28, 2020

The City is beginning its next phase of safely restarting programming at City fitness centres and pools, which opened in September.

In line with COVID-19 safety guidelines outlined by the Lifesaving Society of Ontario, swimming lessons will be shorter and group sizes will be smaller. The next phase of lessons begins November 2, 2020, and includes group lessons for Swimmer 4 levels and up, as well as advanced swimming lessons. Private and semi-private options for these age groups are also available. Residents can book recreational swim times or register for selected swim programs at www.greatersudbury.ca/pools

All other swim levels will begin in January 2021 to allow for a gradual, safe return to full swim programming schedules. In addition to the lessons listed above, family swim sessions were introduced on October 12, and public swims and Feel Free to Feel Fit sessions will begin on November 23 at all municipal pools.

Some fitness programs are also open for registration. To register, visit www.greatersudbury.ca/fitness or call the facility or 311.

For information on reactivating, refunding or crediting current memberships, visit www.greatersudbury.ca/leisure, contact the facility directly, call 311 or email leisure.services@greatersudbury.ca

Safety guidelines and protocols are in place at each of the City’s five fitness centres and four pools, and all visits must be pre-booked.
