City of Greater Sudbury outdoor playing fields

The City of Greater Sudbury is preparing its playing fields for new season of outdoor sports.

The artificial turf at the James Jerome Sports Complex on Paris Street is scheduled to open this Sunday, May 5, given current weather forecasts for sun and warmer temperatures.

Natural playing fields are scheduled to open after the Victoria Day weekend for baseball and during the week of June 3 for soccer, pending favorable weather conditions. Residents are asked to refrain from using natural playing fields until ground conditions are firm and dry.

The City of Greater Sudbury, in partnership with the Fabio Belli Foundation, is installing artificial turf at the Terry Fox Sports Complex on LaSalle Boulevard. The turf is scheduled to open on the Field 1 infield on June 1, 2019, weather permitting.

Openings will be confirmed closer to scheduled dates.
