Mayor Brian Bigger's 4th Annual State of the City Address

Jun 21, 2018

Mayor Brian Bigger delivered his fourth State of the City address to a sold out crowd on Thursday Afternoon at the Caruso Club to discuss City Council’s progress throughout their term in a number of key areas including investments in infrastructure, economic development initiatives and enhancing the quality of life. In his speech, Mayor Bigger also highlighted Council’s commitment to achieving the goals set out by Council through the Strategic Plan “Greater Together”.

“We heard you. You wanted a Council that worked together. What we have done is work together to grow the community and create a path forward for future growth.”

“We’ve gotten many things done that had been priorities for years. We’ve built relationships and we’ve advocated strongly for our community, making sure that we are and will continue to be at the table with other levels of government. We’ve invested in our roads. Maley Drive is well underway, the preliminary work on the 4-laning of MR 35 has also begun. We have developed a plan to improve public transit, and made major decisions on community infrastructure like the events centre and projects in the downtown.”

Mayor Bigger concluded his remarks by thanking guests and stated “I am so happy to be your Mayor and I want to continue to build on this Council’s success.”
