City of Greater Sudbury 2017 Holiday Service Schedule

The following is the City of Greater Sudbury 2017 holiday season service schedule:

Tom Davies Square will be closed on December 25, 26, and January 1.

Citizen Service Centres and Libraries will be closed on December 25, 26 and January 1 and will close early on December 24 and 31 with operating hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Garbage, recycling and green cart collection will be unaffected by the holidays.

Household waste collection services will be provided on Boxing Day, and all landfill sites and the Recycling Centre will also be open on December 26. Please make sure your waste is at the curb in approved containers by 7 a.m. on Tuesday, December 26.

Natural Christmas trees will be collected and composted as part of year-round leaf and yard trimmings collection. Place the tree at the curb by 7 a.m. on your regular collection day. Trees must be completely bare; please remove all decorations, tinsel and lights. Christmas trees wrapped in plastic will not be collected.

Landfills and the Recycling Centre will be closed on December 25 and January 1.

All Greater Sudbury fitness facilities and pools will be closed December 25, 26 and January 1. Additional holiday hours vary by location. Please call to confirm times or visit www.greatersudbury.ca/leisure.   

Greater Sudbury arenas will offer free public skating during the holidays, compliments of your local Tim Hortons. Visit www.greatersudbury.ca/freeskate for schedules. For other arena programming during the holidays, visit www.greatersudbury.ca/arenas.

Greater Sudbury Youth Centres will close for the holidays, between December 25 and January 7, reopening the week of January 8, 2018.

Adanac and Lively Ski Hills will open for the holidays, weather permitting. Hours vary per ski hill. For ski conditions and hours, visit www.greatersudbury.ca/ski.

The Greater Sudbury Animal Shelter will be closed to the public on December 25, 26 and January 1.

Greater Sudbury Holiday Transit Schedule

December 24: The last departure from the Downtown Transit Terminal is at 6:15 p.m. These departures will be round trips returning to the Transit Terminal with the exception of routes 701, 702, 703, 103 and 303, which will be outbound only trips.

  •     December 25: Greater Sudbury Transit will not operate on Christmas Day.
  •     December 26: Greater Sudbury Transit routes will follow Sunday and Holiday service schedules.
  •     December 31: Free Transit rides will be available on New Year’s Eve from 10:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
  •     January 1: Greater Sudbury Transit routes will follow Sunday and Holiday service schedules.
