Canada Day at The Market

Jun 30, 2017

There is so much going on at the Greater Sudbury Market this Canada Day! Join us for three amazing performances, lots of special vendors, and a whole lot of Canada Day fun!

Our roster of local growers is expanding this Saturday with Market veterans, Beaulieu Farms bringing local strawberries fresh-picked that morning.

Northern Produce will be also be at the Market with Ontario-grown produce of all kinds.

Look for hanging flower baskets, greens, sprouts, organic pastured chicken, maple syrup, and a growing array of other local veggies coming from our area farmers.

Honey Berry Farms will be bringing a demonstration hive this Saturday so everyone can watch the bees at work (safely behind glass).

We also have food fit for a Canada Day celebration from Canadian butter tarts and Canada Day cookies from La Baguette Magique, as well as authentic Polish fare including perogies, cabbage rolls and chicken kabobs from the Perogy Princess. Hot meal combos are just $5.

Nish Scon will be offering a unique packaged bannock mix.

Other vendors offer a selection of meats, cheeses and desserts, with enough variety to give you and your whole family a Canada Day feast to bring home!

We have many special crafters coming to celebrate Canada Day with us at the Market. The stalls will be brimming with hand-crafted jewelry, crocheted and embroidered toys, doll clothes, soft and warm alpaca products, skill-development pillows for tots, natural solar light creations, copper, leather and crystal jewelry, colourful fun hats, aprons and bags, home décor, hand-sewn items for the kitchen, embroidered bags and totes, stretchy natural stone bracelets, pillow case shopping bags, Native crafts, Canada Day gift boxes, special edition Canada Day soaps, and much, much more!

Come and enjoy our nation’s musical hits with Scott Mitchell who will be performing your favourite Canadian tunes on stage at 11 a.m. Sing along to hits by everyone from Blue Rodeo to Great Big Sea. Then at noon, Artists on Elgin will be announcing the winners of their Capture Sudbury Postcard Photo Competition. Artists on Elgin will be selling the winning designs all day!  At 1 p.m., not to be missed is a one-hour break dancing demo and workshop by Ojibwe b-boy Red Sky. Last but not least, come and help paint accessibility ramps with local advocacy group StopGap who is working to make more businesses wheelchair accessible.

The Market is open rain or shine on Saturdays downtown at the VIA station (233 Elgin St.), 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. from June 3 to October 28. Beginning July 6, join us every Thursday at our new second location, in the North parking lot at York and Paris St. from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., until September 21. See you there! And don’t forget to #BringCash!
