Greater Sudbury Utilities Inc. (GSU)
The mission of Greater Sudbury Utilities Inc. (GSU) is to deliver services with a customer-focused multi-utility in the most cost-effective and efficient way while maximizing the development of sustainable capital infrastructure, with strong commitment to the safety, health and environment of both customers and employees.
The sole shareholder of the Corporation and its Subsidiaries is the City of Greater Sudbury.
Greater Sudbury Hydro Inc.
Greater Sudbury Hydro Inc. is a subsidiary of GSU. As a regulated local distribution company, it is their mandate to deliver electricity reliably and cost effectively within their service territory.

The Board of GSU governs the Corporation of Greater Sudbury Utilities Inc. and its subsidiary corporations: Greater Sudbury Hydro Inc., Greater Sudbury Hydro Plus Inc., Greater Sudbury Telecommunications Inc. (o/a Agilis Networks), 1627596 Ontario Inc. (o/a @Home Energy) and Convergen Inc.
The Board of Greater Sudbury Hydro Inc. governs the local distribution company and must be at least one third independent from the GSU Board.
The GSU Board is comprised of five individuals, including the Mayor or his designated member of Council, two members of Council appointed by Council, and two individuals ('Private Directors”) who are not City employees nor members of Council, also appointed by Council.
The Board of Greater Sudbury Hydro Inc. is also appointed by Council and includes the Mayor or his designated member of Council, the two members of Council who sit on the GSU Board and two other independent individuals ('Private Directors”) who do not sit on the GSU Board.
Any member of the Board(s) may serve for successive terms.
