MLEOs On Board
Municipal Law Enforcement Officers (MLEOs) are now on board GOVA Transit’s conventional system. The goal of the MLEOs is to enhance safety by addressing issues that disrupt transit services.
MLEOs are on board to:
-
provide passenger safety and enforce security
-
enforce proper payment of fares
-
prevent the fraudulent use of bus passes
Fare Evasion, failure to present transit ID, or misuse of transit ID/transit passes will result in pass confiscation or denial access to service under the Trespass to Property Act. Proof of eligibility is required for reduced concession fares. A non-transferable GOVA Transit photo ID is required and must be presented at the time of boarding. Violations of this policy will result in permanent confiscation of the transit pass. GOVA Transit is not responsible for lost or stolen ride cards, passes or GOVA Transit photo ID.

The introduction of MLEOs has helped establish a safe and secure transit environment, as highlighted in the Transit Action Plan and through ongoing feedback from both operators and riders. GOVA Transit's commitment to safety seeks to improve the overall transit experience for the Greater Sudbury community.
