Ride the Bus for a Loonie
For-profit organizations planning to host a community event may be eligible for a promotion that encourages participants to Ride the Bus for a Loonie.
Passengers travelling to and from an eligible community event on conventional bus routes will pay $1 each way.
Event organizers will be billed $1 for each ride. The City of Greater Sudbury will subsidize the remaining fare.

Please note this is not a charter bus. Ride the Bus for a Loonie is based on conventional transit regular service schedules. We recommend a minimum of two weeks to process your application to avoid disappointment.
How the program works:
- GOVA Transit will track the number of passengers travelling to and from the community event. Event organizers will be invoiced $1 for each ride.
- Event organizers must submit a plan with their application describing how the community event and Ride the Bus for a Loonie program will be advertised or otherwise promoted.
Who is eligible for Ride the Bus for a Loonie:
- For-profit organizations sponsoring a community event.
- All community events will be considered but the City of Greater Sudbury reserves the right to decline applications which do not meet the criteria for Population Health including safety, sensitivity, inclusiveness, accessibility and age-appropriate activities or which violate municipal, provincial or federal laws.
Ride the Bus for a Loonie is funded under the Provincial Gas Tax and is an approved program of Greater Sudbury Council. Limited funding is offered to eligible groups on a first-come, first-served basis.
