Housing Capacity Update

Staff have moved forward with a plan to convert some vacant two bedroom units into one bedroom units to provide additional capacity to the homelessness service system.

Housing offers have gone out to between 15 and 20 people currently staying in shelters or living unsheltered. This is a direct result of the capacity that has been created through the renovation of two bedroom to one-bedroom units within the social housing portfolio.

Some of these individuals will be placed in bridge housing at a local motel on a temporary basis until their move in date, allowing them time to stabilize and plan for move in. Updates on the by-name list and number of people housed will continue to be provided.
