How does MPDS work?
The goal of MPDS is to send the right resource to the right patient at the right time. While previous systems would dispatch ambulances on a first-come, first-served basis, this system supports a more clinically driven approach by:
- using clinical protocols to immediately identify life-threatening emergencies.
- accurately categorizing the severity of a call to ensure an ambulance is always ready for critical emergencies, such as heart attacks or major trauma.
- providing callers with life-saving instructions (such as CPR guidance or how to control bleeding) based on the specific medical situation while paramedics are en route
