Infant and Early Years Mental Health
The Infant and Early Years Mental Health project began in 2023, as a collaborative professional learning opportunity across Ontario Service System managers to develop resources for early childhood educators to support the mental health of children aged zero to 6.
The goals of the project are to:
- Enhance current professional learning supports to include mental health information for early childhood educators in the child care and early years sector.
- Support alignment with Ontario’s provincial pedagogy for child care and early years: “How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years.”
In May 2024, over 200 professionals from the early learning and child care sector attended a deep-dive professional learning opportunity facilitated by Dr. Jean Clinton and Lorrie McGee-Baird. The session introduced best practices related to infant and early years mental health promotion. A series of modules will also be developed to support ongoing professional learning.
Project materials will be posted here as they become available.
