Cemetery Services Information Sheets for Lots and Exterior Niches
Hours of Operation:
Daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Products Available: Casket Lots, Cremation Lots, Exterior Niche Units and Interment Services.
- Contract of Purchase: Every person purchasing Interment Rights or Services shall sign a Contract of Purchase. Written consent of the Interment Rights Holder is required for all services taking place on their lot.
- Flowerbeds: Items placed on lots between May 1 to September 30 must be in a cement or granite border no wider than the lot and no more than 12” deep from the front of the foundation including the border. Plant hangers shall not exceed 5’ in height. The cemetery is not responsible for repairing or replacing any flowerbed, border or corner post that interferes with an interment or routine maintenance.
- Flowerbeds for All Flat Marker Cremation Lots: Flowers or lot decorations are only permitted to be on 2’x2’ cremation lots between October 1 and April 30 when the grass cutting season is over. Items remaining after this date or placed on lots from May 1 to September 30 will be removed by staff.
- Interment Schedule: The regular interment schedule is Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Interments may also be scheduled for an additional fee on a Saturday, Sunday or Holiday from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM for both caskets and cremains. Late weekday and Saturday interments are also available for an additional fee for caskets and cremains.
- Care and Maintenance Fund: As a requirement under the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002 and Ontario Regulation 30/11, 40% of the purchase price of all graves and lots, 20% of the purchase price of all crypts, 15% of the purchase price of all niches is contributed into an irrevocable trust fund – The Care and Maintenance Fund. Income from the Care and Maintenance Fund is used to provide general care and maintenance of the Cemetery in perpetuity.
- By-Law 2014-133 as amended is a by-law of the City of Greater Sudbury to Regulate the Maintenance and Management of Cemeteries in the City of Greater Sudbury
