How can I apply?

The Property owner is to provide a letter of assertion from their lawyer, along with any supporting documentation asserting to our office that a Letter of Opinion is required to establish Legal Non-Conforming status.  

The letter should be addressed to:

The following is a list of documentation the Chief Building Official will accept in proof of legal non-conformance:

  • Sworn affidavits
  • Vernon’s Directories
  • Real Estate Purchase of Sale Agreements, ads, etc.
  • Telephone directories (telephone numbers, ads, etc.)
  • Newspaper ads (if commercial)
  • Photos
  • Income tax information (rent receipts)

A lawyer’s letter and any supporting documentation may be submitted in person by attending Tom Davies Square or via email to buildingservices@pronto.greatersudbury.ca. Letters will be processed by date order upon the payment of fees.
