Shared Housing

This initiative is focused on increasing housing choice in key intensification areas by permitting shared housing along all primary and secondary arterial roads. Shared housing relies on renting out rooms within a dwelling unit, rather than renting the entire dwelling, where tenants have access to shared spaces, such as a kitchen, bathroom, or living area.

This initiative supports housing options and affordability by allowing more shared units in areas that are near services, walkable, and accessible by transit.
