Enhancements at South End Dog Park Complete
Jun 26, 2026
The City of Greater Sudbury is celebrating the completion of Phase 2 enhancements at the South End Dog Park (235 Countryside Dr.). The improvements were made possible through fundraising efforts by the York K9 Club and Healthy Community Initiative (HCI) funding.
“Dog parks are more than recreational spaces – they’re places where neighbours connect and pets thrive,” said the Councillor for Ward 9. “These upgrades reflect what we can accomplish when community members and the City work together with a shared vision for safe, inclusive and enjoyable public spaces.”
Phase 2 enhancements include:
• Installation of lighting
• A new bench
• An accessible pathway
• Tree plantings
• New play equipment
These upgrades improve safety, enjoyment and inclusivity – they also build on the park’s existing amenities and support the City’s commitment to enhancing recreational spaces across Greater Sudbury.
The celebration aligns with June is Recreation and Parks Month, a province?wide initiative recognizing the importance of parks, trails and recreational facilities in supporting healthy, active and connected communities.
Thank you to the York K9 Club, local volunteers and all residents who contributed to the success of this project.
