City Names Interim General Manager of Community Development

Following the departure of Catherine Matheson later this year, Ian Wood will assume the position of Interim General Manager of Community Development and Executive Lead for the City’s Large Projects. Mr. Wood is currently the City’s Director of Economic Development. 

The Community Development portfolio includes Transit, Housing Services, Social Services, Long-Term Care Services, Leisure Services, and Children and Citizen Services.

The Large Projects portfolio includes the Junction, Place des Arts, and the Kingsway Entertainment District. 

Mr. Wood has held various positions with the municipality over the years, including with the former Town of Walden. He has held his current position as Director of Economic Development since 2011. He is the current Chair of Audit Committee at Laurentian University, where he has sat on the Board of Directors since 2009. He is also a founding member of Destination Northern Ontario. 

Mr. Wood will maintain the interim position until a permanent replacement is recruited. 

Catherine Matheson, the City’s General Manager of Community Development, is resigning from the City to take a position with the Region of Peel as Commissioner of Corporate Services. She will begin in her new role on December 3, 2018.
