Traffic Delays for Oversize Loads on Kingsway, Brady, Paris, Notre Dame, Southeast Bypass

Aug 4, 2017

Oversize loads for construction of the Maley Drive Extension will create traffic delays Tuesday to Thursday, August 8 to 10, on the Southeast Bypass, Kingsway, Brady Street, Paris Street and Notre Dame Avenue.

A total of ten oversize loads over three days will be accompanied by police and private escorts. Trucks will arrive in the city at the Southeast Bypass and will occupy the following traffic lanes in stages:

  • One westbound lane on the Kingsway to the Brady Street Extension, with the exception of tight curves that will require both westbound lanes due to the length of the trailer.
  • The intersection of Paris and Brady Streets for a right turn onto Paris Street.
  • One northbound lane on Paris Street from Brady to Elm Street.
  • One northbound lane on Notre Dame Avenue to the Maley Drive construction site.

To avoid peak traffic periods, the trucks will travel during the following hours between August 8 and 10:

  • Before 7:30 a.m.
  • 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
  • 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • After 6:00 p.m.

Greater Sudbury Police, Paramedic and Fire Services are aware of traffic delays and plans are in place for emergencies.

The trucks are carrying concrete bridge girders for construction of an interchange to connect a new four-lane road from LaSalle Boulevard West, near Collège Boréal, to Barry Downe Road as part of Phase One of the Maley Drive Extension.

The City of Greater Sudbury apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks motorists for their patience during this busy road construction season.
