Arts and Culture Organizations Invited to Submit 2018 Grant Applications

The Greater Sudbury Development Corporation (GSDC) invites arts and culture organizations to complete a grant application for 2018. Reports from 2017 can be found and grant applications for 2018 can be completed online at www.greatersudburyculture.ca. Deadline for submission of applications and reports is 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018.

Information sessions, which will begin late November 2017, are mandatory for new applicants. Previous applicants are not obligated to attend; however, attendance is strongly recommended. Session dates will be posted at www.greatersudburyculture.ca.

The combined budget for two funding streams, “Project Grants” and “Operating Grants”, was $773,283 in 2017, and grants were awarded to 46 organizations. The combined budget for 2018 will be determined following completion of the municipal budget process.

Eligible requests under Project Grants include special or one-time activities or exhibits, skills development and acquisition of new equipment. Operating Grants support organizations that have an ongoing presence in the city and an established track record of success.

Greater Sudbury Council supports the growth and development of local arts and culture through the provision of annual grants. Applications will be assessed on the basis of artistic/cultural merit, organizational/financial health and impact to the community, aligned with the four goal areas of the Greater Sudbury Cultural Plan: Creative People, Identity, Places and Economy.  An independent jury reviews applications to make funding recommendations to the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation Board of Directors.
