Christmas Tree Collection Service

Not sure what to do with your natural Christmas tree, once the holiday is over? Just put it at the curb, on your regularly scheduled household waste collection day.

Trees at the curb for collection must be completely bare; the tree stand, all decorations, and any wrap used to transport the tree from your home to the curb, must be removed. Plastic wrapping is also not permitted.

Natural Christmas trees, collected by the City of Greater Sudbury, are transported from your curb and brought to the leaf and yard composting pad at one of the City’s three landfill sites. While the exact number of trees collected isn’t tracked, between December 2014 and February 2015, more than 45 tonnes of leaf and yard material was collected; the majority of this material (for the time of year) would have been natural Christmas trees.

More information on leaf and yard trimmings is available at www.greatersudbury.ca/landfill.
