Additional Sessions Added to #gs2025 Geographical Consultation

Mar 4, 2015

For Immediate Release
Wednesday, March 4, 2015

Imagine that it’s the summer of 2025. You are entertaining friends from out of town for the weekend. During their stay they ask, “So, what’s new in Greater Sudbury?” You reply by saying, “It’s great! We recently….”

Four additional sessions have been added to the roster for the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation (GSDC) “kitchen table” conversations. Citizens are invited to share ideas to grow our city’s economic and social landscape over the next 10 years, during a series of informal “kitchen table” conversations in local neighbourhoods and communities. Open public conversations are scheduled until March 19 in several locations throughout the city, between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Economic development plans are used as a resource by Council and the GSDC to guide municipal decisions and actions that will lead to the creation of a local economic climate that generates significant employment opportunities, attracts know-how and talent, provides a high quality of life and a higher than average standard of living.

The City of Greater Sudbury’s 10 year economic development strategic plan, “From the Ground Up – #gs2025,” is piloted by an Economic Development Strategic Plan Steering Committee, representing a cross-section of the community and its economic sectors, for publication in June 2015. Economic development plans chart a course of strategies and actions to leverage existing strengths and to identify and respond to new opportunities.
