Season Start-Up - May 13, 2025

Capreol Trunk Storm Sewer Upgrades

The City of Greater Sudbury will be continuing road improvements on Crescent Avenue from Young Street to Ormsby Avenue, Ormsby Avenue from Crescent Avenue to Dennie Street, and Dennie Street from Ormsby Avenue to Crescent Avenue.

The final phase of construction by the City’s contractor, Teranorth Construction, will begin spring, 2025 and consists of project clean up and restoration. The work is expected to be completed by summer, 2025.

Work will typically take place during daylight hours Monday to Friday. Weekend or night work may be required.

    Project Update

    Pavement Rehabilitation 

    The City of Greater Sudbury will be continuing road improvements on Dominion Drive, from Notre Dame Avenue to 1.7 kilometres West, in Hanmer.

    Construction by the City’s contractor, GIP Interpaving Limited will begin June 2025 and is expected to be completed September 2025.

    Work will typically take place during daylight hours Monday to Friday. Weekend or night work may be required.

      Culvert Replacement

      The City of Greater Sudbury will be completing a road culvert replacement on Dupont Street, in Chelmsford.

      Construction by the City’s contractor, GIP Interpaving Limited will begin May 2025 and is expected to be completed late summer, 2025.

      Work will typically take place during daylight hours Monday to Friday.

      Final asphalt will be completed in late summer 2025.

        Project Update

        Season Wrap Up- December 8, 2023

        Road, Water and Sewer Improvements

        The City of Greater Sudbury will continue the road and water/wastewater improvements on Larch Street between Elgin and Lisgar Streets, in Sudbury.

        Construction by the City’s contractor, Teranorth Construction & Engineering Ltd. will start in spring 2023 and is expected to be completed in fall 2023.

        Work will typically take place during daylight hours, weekend and/or night work may be required.

        Final asphalt will be completed in Spring 2024.

          Project Update

          Construction Startup Notice - May 2, 2025

          Martin Road Bridge Replacement
          Martin Road, Val Caron

          Work will resume this spring on Martin Road Bridge, between Valleyview Road and MR 15, in Val Caron.

          Construction by the City’s contractor, Dominion Construction, will resume May 2025 and is expected to be completed June 2025.

          Work will typically take place during daylight hours Monday to Friday.  Weekend or night work may be required.

          Construction Details:

          Previous Seasons Accomplishments:

          • Completed removal and replacement of existing bridge with a single span concrete slab on steel girder bridge with concrete foundations.
          • Partial installation of approach roadside safety features including steel beam guide rails.

          Remaining Activities Include:

          • Final approach grading and roadside safety features including steel beam guide rails and energy attenuators.
          • Binder asphalt along approaches.
          • Final surface asphalt along the approaches and bridge deck.
          • Final site restoration.

          During the remaining construction, Martin Road Bridge will be closed to all traffic. Access to Martin Road on both sides of the bridge is available via Valleyview Rd, Belisle Dr, and MR 15.

            The City of Greater Sudbury will be completing active transportation improvements on Old Highway 69N (MR80), between Main Street and the mall entrance in Val Caron.

            Project Highlights:

            • Phase One includes the construction of a three (3) metre wide multi-use path on the west side of Highway 69N (MR80) from Main Street to the Val Caron Mall and is expected to be completed in 2023 with subsequent phases completed in future years.
