Free Landfill Week
Free landfill week for household residents
You can bring your household waste to your nearest landfill for free during our residential tipping fee holiday week. At all other times, our landfill fees will apply. There will be no charge to drop waste off at the landfill during the following week:
- Monday, May 6 to Saturday, May 11, 2024
Policies
- You must live in Greater Sudbury. Proof of address may be required.
- You must pre-sort your waste so it is properly disposed of at the landfill.
- You must deliver your household waste in a private motor vehicle for it to be free.
- If you want to rent a vehicle or borrow a commercial pick-up truck to deliver your household waste, then you need to complete and submit the appropriate form that must be pre-approved by the City by the Monday of the week before.
- Make sure your trailer or truck bed is properly covered, tied and secured when bringing waste to the landfill. It's an offence to litter our community with waste blown from your vehicle.
The free landfill week does not apply to the industrial, commercial or institutional sectors.
* The hours of operation for the Walden Small Vehicle Waste Transfer Site will match the landfill site's hours of operation during the annual Residential Tipping Fee Holiday Week.
