BEV In Depth: Mines to Mobility Keynote Speakers for 2023

May 30, 2023

Mining and automotive sector delegates from across the country will arrive in Greater Sudbury on May 31 and June 1, 2023, for the second annual BEV In Depth: Mines to Mobility conference.

“Greater Sudbury has the land, the talent and the resources to be an essential part of the global transition to battery electric vehicle technology,” said Greater Sudbury Mayor Paul Lefebvre. “This unique and timely conference brings together experts and leaders from along the entire critical minerals supply chain as they illuminate how we can seize the economic opportunities related to an electric future – and will help create the connections to get us there.”

This event advances the conversation as the transition continues toward a fully integrated electric vehicle (EV) supply chain in Ontario and throughout Canada.

"Reducing greenhouse gases (GHGs) is essential for a Net Zero future and this important BEV In-Depth: Mines to Mobility conference will see different players come together to discuss the transition,” said Jean Marc Leclerc, President and Chief Executive Officer, Honda Canada Inc. “Only through collaboration between industry, electrification stakeholders and all levels of governments can we ensure Canada's supply chains for critical minerals and EV infrastructure are ready for the electrification era."

Keynote speakers include:

  • Jean Marc Leclerc, President and CEO, Honda Canada
  • Dr. David Deak, President, Marbex and Chief Development Officer, ES Minerals
  • Simon Thibault, EV Critical Minerals Leader, General Motors Canada
  • Alfredo Santana, Chief Operating Officer, North Atlantic Operations, Vale
  • Raed Kadri, Head of Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN), Ontario Centre for Innovation (OCI)

The conference will close with a Fireside Chat with the Honourable Victor Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, moderated by Steven Paikin, host of TVO’s The Agenda.

This year’s event also includes a diverse display of battery electric consumer, transit and recreational vehicles, and mining equipment that will be accessible to conference delegates and the public daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. outside of the Student Life Centre at Cambrian College.

BEV In-Depth: Mines to Mobility is presented by the City of Greater Sudbury, Greater Sudbury Development Corporation, Frontier Lithium, Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology, Electric Vehicle Society, Electric Autonomy Canada, and Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network.
