Digital Parking Permits Now Available for Monthly Municipal Parking

Sep 8, 2020

Enforcement at the 13 municipal parking lots downtown will resume on October 1, after being put on hold due to COVID-19.

To make municipal parking more accessible to users a new payment option is now available for monthly parking through HotSpot. The app allows drivers to pay online or with a mobile device using their license plate number, lot number and a credit card or visa debit. Hourly parking will continue through the pay and display machines.

Parking permits will continue to be available for purchase at the Citizen Service Centre at Tom Davies Square.

Digital parking permits through HotSpot have many benefits, including:

  • Residents do not have to attend Tom Davies Square in person;
  • Digital waitlists for high demand parking lots;
  • A touchless service through the implementation of license plate technology, replacing the need for physical parking tags;
  • No added fees to sign up and no membership fees to purchase monthly parking permits.

HotSpot is already available to those who use on-street parking downtown. Since its launch in Greater Sudbury in June 2019, the app has more than 10,000 users signed up. Learn more about HotSpot by visiting https://htsp.ca/
