Application process
If applying for a new Taxi, Limousine or Shuttle Driver's Licence, please submit the following information upon application;
New Driver Application:

Valid Driver's licence

Completed application form
-
Completed criminal record check (with vulnerable sector)

Letter of Hire from the company you will be driving for
-
Licence fee of $61 (cash, cheque, debit or credit)

Driver's abstract
If renewing a Taxi, Limousine or Shuttle Driver's Licence, please submit the following information upon application;
Driver Renewal:

Completed renewal form

Completed criminal record check (with vulnerable sector)

Licence fee of $30 (cash, cheque, debit or credit)

Driver's abstract
If applying for or renewing a Taxi, Limousine or Shuttle Owner's Licence or applying for a transfer, please submit the following information upon application;

Proof or insurance showing the proper liability amount

Mechanical Fitness for the vehicle, dated no more than 36 days from the date of inspection

Where can I apply for a Taxi licence?
Taxi licences are available Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed on statutory holidays) at the By-Law Enforcement Department location.
Renewals/ Expiry Date
Taxi drivers licences expire on the driver's birthday each year and taxi owners' licences expire on August 31st of each year. A new criminal record check is required for all drivers every year. The process may take up to 4 weeks. It is the responsibility of the business owner, and all drivers, to attend at the Compliance & Enforcement Office at Tom Davies Square to commence the renewal process at least one month prior to the expiry of the licence concerned.
Licence Appeal Process
If an Applicant disagrees with a decision regarding the refusal, revocation or suspension of licence for a business, taxi or lottery, he or she can appeal that decision to the Hearing Committee of the Council of the City of Greater Sudbury by completing and returning and "Appeal Request From" within fourteen (14) calendar days following the date of the licence refusal letter.
