Bylaws

A bylaw is a law passed by a municipality. Bylaws must be founded on statutory authority, delegated to the municipality by the Province.

It is intended to bind not only the Council, but also officers and servants of the municipality and the public.

Where applicable, consolidated versions of bylaws reflect the original bylaw as amended by subsequent bylaws. Consolidated versions are unofficial and are provided for convenience only. Official versions may be obtained by contacting Clerk’s Services at 311 or by email at clerks@greatersudbury.ca. 

In the event of a discrepancy between the original bylaws and the consolidated versions, the original bylaws shall prevail.

Cannabis is now legal in Canada. Oversight of bylaws surrounding the use of cannabis on municipal property is the responsibility of the City. What does this mean for Greater Sudbury?
