Passing of a City of Greater of Sudbury Employee

Yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, March 13, OPP North East Division, and Greater Sudbury Fire Services and Paramedic Services responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 144 west of Dowling.

The City of Greater Sudbury can now confirm that this tragic incident resulted in the death of an employee of the municipality. At the request of the family, we will not be sharing the employee’s name or identifying information.

We are heartbroken by this loss, and extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of this individual.

At this time, we have limited information about this collision, and the police investigation is ongoing. Our focus right now is on supporting the staff members who were closest to this employee.

Flags at City facilities will be lowered to half-mast tomorrow morning, in honour of our colleague and friend.
