Homegrown Ventures Unites, Inspires Local Entrepreneurs

Homegrown Ventures – A Greater Sudbury Entrepreneurial Showcase, held today at the Jim Fielding Innovation and Commercialization Space at Laurentian University, brought together a vibrant community of local business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs for an exchange of experiences and insights.

Hosted by the Innovation Quarters, in partnership with the Regional Business Centre and the Foundry at Laurentian University, the event featured business owners Dylan Lloyd, Gus Minor, and Hilary Deverell. The speakers offered valuable insight on navigating the entrepreneurial landscape by sharing firsthand experiences of the obstacles and triumphs they encountered along their journeys.

"This platform provides a valuable opportunity for entrepreneurs to come together, share experiences and empower each other to excel in their respective fields," said Meredith Armstrong, Director of Economic Development at the City of Greater Sudbury. "Our goal is to cultivate a vibrant and growing entrepreneurial community where individuals can thrive and support one another in their endeavors."

The inaugural showcase offered attendees a glimpse into the diverse opportunities and challenges present in the local business landscape and showcased the resilience and creativity of Greater Sudbury’s entrepreneurial spirit.

"Homegrown Ventures offers valuable perspectives from experienced entrepreneurs for individuals at every stage of their entrepreneurial journey,” said Heather Dufour, Innovation and Commercialization Coordinator of the Jim Fielding Innovation and Commercialization Space. “Aspiring entrepreneurs as well as established business owners, benefit from the thought-provoking panel discussion, sparking creativity by delivering unparalleled firsthand knowledge.”

The event concluded with a networking session, providing attendees with the chance to connect, collaborate and establish meaningful relationships, laying the foundation for future collaborations and partnerships.
