East Village Animal Hospital Offers a Second Clinic for Low-Income Pet Owners

Apr 19, 2024

The City of Greater Sudbury, in partnership with East Village Animal Hospital, is hosting a second subsidized veterinary clinic on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, for pet owners with a net income of under $40,000.

The low-cost vaccination clinic is by preregistration only and will be held at the Ryan Heights Playground Field House, 736 Bruce Ave., between noon and 6 p.m. Spots are limited. To preregister for the clinic, email evahnorth@gmail.com or call 519-894-2323.

If the clinic is full, residents may ask to be placed on a waiting list or to preregister for a future spay and neuter clinic for low-income pet owners.

The East Village Animal Hospital clinic follows the overwhelming success of 2019 pilot programs held at Ryan Heights Playground and Percy Playground. The cost of a dog or cat examination and core vaccinations is $30 plus tax per pet. Microchipping will also be available for $30 plus tax. Animals used for breeding purposes are not eligible for the clinic.

The East Village Animal Hospital is a high volume spay/neuter clinic dedicated to providing comprehensive preventative medicine services for pets cared for by low-income individuals, animal rescue groups, humane societies and municipal shelters. The hospital and partner animal welfare agencies fundraise to subsidize services provided by licensed veterinarians travelling from clinics in London and Kitchener, Ontario.

Residents who preregister for the vaccination clinic or the future spay/neuter clinic are asked to verify their income upon arrival with proof of government assistance or Notice of Assessment.
