Invitation to the Community: 2022 Virtual Budget Town Hall November 24

Nov 18, 2021

Residents are invited to a virtual Budget Town Hall November 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. to learn more about the proposed 2022 Municipal Budget and ask questions related to municipal services.

The proposed Budget was tabled on November 2 for City Council to consider as part of Budget deliberations. The goal was to prepare a plan that delivers public services which meets the community’s highest priority needs, at a cost that includes no more than a 3 per cent property tax increase over 2021. Overall, a 3.2 per cent property tax change is being presented as the result of a late addition to the Greater Sudbury Police Service Budget. Staff continue to look for options that will ensure the direction for no more than a 3 per cent property tax change is fulfilled.

Budget deliberations are scheduled November 29, 30 and December 1, with the operating and capital budgets anticipated to be approved on December 14.

Along with Mayor Bigger, Councillor Mike Jakubo, Chair of the Finance and Administration Committee, Councillor Deb McIntosh, Vice-Chair of the Finance and Administration Committee, and key senior and Budget team staff will be in attendance.

Those who attend the session will have the opportunity to post questions live during the event through the Q&A chat feature available on the Zoom platform.

The link to the meeting will be shared in a follow-up PSA, on Over to You, on the City’s website at www.greatersudbury.ca/budget and on social media pages the day of the meeting.
