Camp Wassakwa

In 2018, the City of Greater Sudbury reviewed its programming for children and youth to consider accessibility, affordability, optimum use of leisure facilities and how these programs address issues related to population health.

It was determined that the continued municipal operation of Camp Wassakwa on Bass Lake, near Fairbank Provincial Park, is no longer viable due to declining enrollment.

A Request for Proposal was issued earlier this year inviting interest from third party operators to deliver child and youth programs at Camp Wassakwa. Unfortunately, no submissions were received.

Residents of Lively and area can enroll their children for an outdoor day camp experience at Camp Sudaca, near Moonlight Beach on Ramsey Lake.

Bus transportation is included with registration for Camp Sudaca. Buses serve the following locations in Lively and Whitefish:

  • Departure from R.H. Murray Public School: between 7:35 and 7:45 a.m.
  • Return to R.H. Murray Public School: 5:00 p.m.
  • Departure from the T.M. Davies Community Centre and Arena; between 8:00 and 8:15 a.m.
  • Return to T.M. Davies Community Centre and Arena: 4:45 p.m.
