2019 NeORA Educational Forum and Trade Show

 

The City of Greater Sudbury is proud to host the 2019 Northeastern Ontario Recreation Association (NeORA) Educational Forum and Trade Show, from September 23 to 26, 2019 at the Radisson Hotel in Sudbury.

The primary purpose of the NeORA Educational Forum is to provide an opportunity for recreation and sports volunteers, professional staff, elected municipal officials, municipal recreation committee members, public health, recreation retailers and professional government personnel to meet annually in an educational and social setting.

This year’s theme – Play is a Priority – recognizes the importance of play in the development of healthy active living, social inclusion, resilience and interpersonal skills.

Play is a Priority keynote speakers are:

  • PlayLearnThink learning through play and inquiry specialist Pierre Harrison
  • Former OHL and professional hockey player Brock McGillis
  • Two-time Olympian and Olympic gold medalist Adam Kreek

Additional educational opportunities are available. Topics may include but are not limited to:

  • Ontario Recreation Facilities Association (ORFA) building maintenance best practices
  • The revitalization of 58 municipal playgrounds in the City of Greater Sudbury

Capping off the Play is a Priority theme are opportunities to try out Greater Sudbury’s newest recreational facilities including the Northern Water Sports Centre, a six court outdoor pickleball play field, and the hiking and biking trails of beautiful Kivi Park.
