Downtown Sudbury Municipal Parking

Municipal Parking
Mondays to Fridays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.*:

Minto Street/Brady Street (across from Sudbury Community Arena)**
Shaughnessy Street/Brady Street (across from Sudbury Theatre Centre)
Shaughnessy Street/Paris Street (beside Sudbury Theatre Centre)

  • Per hour: $1.30
  • Daily maximum: $8.25
  • Monthly: $82

**Metered parking also available.

Elgin Street (CP Rail)

  • Monthly: $51
  • No daily or hourly parking.

(Please note: Parking in front of the VIA Rail Station is reserved for rail customers.)

Energy Court (Lorne and Elm)

  • First two hours: Free
  • Each additional hour: $1.30
  • Daily maximum: $8.25
  • Monthly: $41 

Beech Street

  • Per hour: $1.30

Two hour maximum.

Elm Street Meter Parking
Starting September 2013, motorists may park for $2 per hour, for a maximum of one hour in the eastbound curb lane on Elm Street, between Elgin and Lisgar Streets.

During peak traffic hours from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Mondays to Fridays, parking on Elm Street is prohibited.

Motorists wishing to park longer than one hour may use an alternate parking meter, pay and display or attended parking lot.

Special Events:

A $5 charge is applicable during special events at the Sudbury Community Arena at Minto Street/Brady Street, Shaughnessy Street/Brady Street, Shaughnessy Street/Paris Street, the Tom Davies Square underground , and Elgin Street parking lots. Parking is free of charge after 6 p.m. at Beech Street and Energy Court and Larch Street lots and in Metered Parking areas.

*Free parking on weekends and after 6 p.m., except where noted under Special Events. Overnight parking is not permitted.

Free Parking!

Park at the Energy Court* lot free of charge for two hours.

Here's how:

  • Look for the Pay & Display machine in the Energy Court parking lot.
  • Press the green button. The Pay & Display machine will automatically dispense a receipt for free parking for two hours.
  • Be sure to display the receipt face-up on your vehicle dashboard.

If you plan to park longer than two hours, insert $1.30 for each additional hour in the Pay & Display machine before pressing the green button.

Daily maximum: $8.25 (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Do not use more than one free parking receipt per day. Parking staff regularly patrol all municipal parking lots and are on the lookout for violations.

PLUS: FREE parking at all municipal lots and parking meters on weekends and after 6 p.m.**

*Pay & Display is not valid in reserved Monthly parking, reserved Allstream parking and Metered parking sections.

**Except where noted under Special Events. Overnight parking is not permitted.

Accessible Parking Permit

Persons with a valid Ministry of Transportation accessible parking permit on their vehicle may park for up to four hours free of charge at municipal parking meters and Pay & Display lots. Parking fees apply at Centre for Life and Tom Davies Square lots.

Veteran and War Pensioners Parking
Persons displaying a valid War Pensioner Permit on the dashboard or a Ministry of Transportation Poppy licence plate on their vehicle may park for up to four hours free of charge at municipal parking meters and Pay & Display lots. Parking fees apply at Centre for Life and Tom Davies Square lots.

Pay & Display Parking

Please pay for parking in advance. Insert your coin in a Pay & Display machine for the desired amount of time and receive your parking slip. You must display the slip face up on your dashboard to be validated for date and time by Parking staff.

Attended Lots

Attendants are on duty from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Enter the lot by taking a dispenser ticket and pay for parking upon exit. After 6 p.m., an envelope will be left on your windshield. Calculate the parking fee owed, place your money and the dispenser ticket in the envelope, and place the envelope in a drop box upon exit.

Monthly Lots

Monthly parking passes are available at the Tom Davies Square Citizen Service Centre. Hang the pass from your rearview mirror with the sticker side facing out. Passes are valid from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. No overnight parking.

Please note: Parking meter fees apply from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday. Evenings and weekends are free. Overnight parking is not permitted.
