Media Relations Protocol

Media Relations Protocol

All media releases are managed by City of Greater Sudbury Communications and Community Engagement Division. For up to date information related to City programs, services, initiatives, partnerships, announcements, decisions of City Council, etc. please visit our newsroom.

Effective and timely communications with our media partners enables us to build effective relationships with members of the media who, in turn, help us get valuable information to residents.

Receive Updates

Members of a recognized media organization wishing to be added to the City’s email distribution list to receive electronic information and updates are asked to submit a request to Corporate Communications

Availability/Response Times

The City responds to requests from members of the media during regular business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All requests will be responded to in an appropriate time frame, according to time of receipt. Requests received after 2 p.m. may be addressed the next business day.

Media requests from accredited media (representatives of a recognized media organization) are given priority. Media requests by non-accredited media and students will be logged and addressed in sequence.

Requests are to be directed to communications@greatersudbury.ca.

After Hours

The City of Greater Sudbury only extends after-hours service to the members of the media during an urgent, operational matter. Media requests received outside of regular business hours will be addressed the next business day.

Accreditation

The City of Greater Sudbury is responsible for security and access to City facilities, including the Council Chamber and Committee meeting rooms, and is committed to providing a safe environment for members of City Council, staff, the public and those who work at or visit Tom Davies Square.

Media attending and covering City Council and Committee meetings must review the program guidelines and submit a request for accreditation.
