Mobility Devices

For the safety of passengers and GOVA Plus Bus Operators, mobility devices must be maintained in safe condition and remain unaltered. This includes air in tires, functional brakes, wheelchair footrests attached, and wheelchair anti-tip systems present and in good order.

Mobility aids must be used only for their designed purpose.

GOVA Plus Bus Operators will notify Dispatch if they feel a mobility device is unsafe and the passenger will be responsible for repairs before rides can be provided.

Passengers are not permitted to sit on the seat of their walker or scooter device while travelling on GOVA Plus.

Powered mobility devices must be secured using a four-point safety system while travelling on GOVA Plus buses.

For your safety, if you are using a manual “transfer” style or hospital wheelchair, you will be required to transfer to a bus seat for your ride.

GOVA Plus Bus Operators are responsible for securing wheelchairs, scooters and walkers.  Please ensure there is nothing hanging or attached to your mobility device that prohibits the ability of the GOVA Plus Bus Operator to safely secure your device.

Please note: Due to vehicle limitations and for the safety of our passengers, mobility devices must not exceed 54 inches (1.4 m) in length and 33 inches (84 cm) in width. The combined weight of the passenger and their mobility device must not exceed 500 pounds (226 kg).
