Community Paramedicine Programs

Community Paramedicine Programs

Community paramedicine is a model of care where paramedics apply their training and skills to non-traditional community-based environments outside the usual emergency response and transportation to hospital situations.

Our community paramedicine programs allow people to live independently in their homes with appropriate support for their health conditions. This results in improved quality of life and may result in future cost avoidance for Paramedic Services and the health-care system as a whole.

Greater Sudbury has been part of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) funding program to study the effectiveness of a variety of programs in our community that involve home visits for high risk chronic disease patients to health promotion strategies.
