Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Canadians produce a total of more than 31 million tonnes of household waste each year. Make responsible choices. Don't trash it until you've tried to reduce, reuse or recycle it.

Reuse Store

The Sudbury Landfill has a Reuse Store on site. The hours of operation are Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The landfill site operator pulls out reusable items that can be purchased for reasonable rates.

Items include: children’s toys, lawn furniture, sporting goods, luggage, lawn mowers, bicycles, counter tops, sinks, doors and more. Only the landfill site operator is allowed to salvage items. Scavenging is not permitted.

Certain items may not be salvaged due to various programs. For example appliances must have old and inefficient energy units removed and some electronic waste must be stored quickly to meet the Ontario Electronic Stewardship guidelines.
