Canada Water Week (March 20-27) and International Water Day (March 22) are both celebrated in EarthCare Sudbury’s Water Month. March is a great time to explore water initiatives in the City of Greater Sudbury.

Wastewater treatment plant tours are available to schools, organizations and the general public.  Gather friends and colleagues to observe the various water or wastewater plant processes and learn how water is treated in our community. Visitors will also receive a free FOG Bucket, a container to trap and dispose of household FOG: Fats, Oils and Grease.

Hundreds of Greater Sudbury students have taken the tour in the past few years from all ages. For secondary schools, the Wastewater Treatment tours can be geared towards the science and math behind WasteWater Treatment (WWT). If there is specific curriculum related to chemicals and/or biology we can incorporate certain topics.

For the careers course, the tour guide can talk about career opportunities such as operators, millwrights, electricians/instrument technicians, mechanics, computer specialists that work in the Water and Wastewater field.

Likewise for the Civics courses who study the three levels of government, they can talk about the services offered by the municipal government regarding water and wastewater.

Groups can book a tour at any of the following Water/Wastewater facilities in the City of Greater Sudbury:
