Greater Sudbury Public Library Invites Applications for Greater Sudbury Poet Laureate

The Greater Sudbury Public Library has begun the search for the community's next Poet Laureate. Residents are invited to apply for the position of Greater Sudbury Poet Laureate for a two-year term from 2016 to the end of 2017. 

Greater Sudbury's Poet Laureate will serve as an active advocate for poetry, literacy and literature by initiating and participating in readings and other events throughout the community. The Poet Laureate's mandate also includes the creation of a legacy project that will be unique to the individual.

Applicants for the position must be a published poet, recognized for their achievements, and active in the cultural and literary community. Additional requirements include demonstrated leadership skills, public speaking ability and flexibility to carry out all duties required of the position. Honorarium for the Greater Sudbury Poet Laureate is $1,000 per term.
