The City of Greater Sudbury United Way Workplace Campaign was a resounding success with $71,220.09 raised in 2015. This year’s campaign concluded on December 17, with approximately $15,000 more money raised than last year.

Pledges alone came in at more than $56,000, while the remainder was raised from workplace events. Employees organized several events, including a pizza day, themed bake sales, a gift basket raffle and dress down days. With the help of local businesses, a variety of prizes were offered as incentives throughout the campaign. In an effort to engage more employees, the 2016 United Way Workplace Campaign committee hosted Coffee Kick Off events at several City of Greater Sudbury locations. This proved to be successful with an increase in donations from City facilities outside of Tom Davies Square.

“This year, the United Way tagline of ‘Together, we are possibility’ really defined the City’s campaign,” said Greater Sudbury Interim CAO and City of Greater Sudbury United Way Workplace Campaign Committee Chair Kevin Fowke. “We focused on engaging and educating as many employees as possible, and in return, we had one of our most successful fundraising campaigns to date. City staff continues to donate generously year after year to help our community, and I am proud to be a part of this workplace.”
